Julia, I think that you are seeking the Missa L'Homme Arme. The Tallis
Scholars have recorded on a disc of masses by Josquin. L'Homme arme (with
the accent) was a very famous French folk song from the middle ages. Many
composers wrote mass settings using this tune as a cantus firmus. The song
talks about being wary of the "Armed man" ie a man who was armed with
weaponry. A warning that could well be heeded in our own time!
