Wagner Society of Washington, DC presents

"Wagner Says 'No!'

with Guest Speaker
Andrew Gray

Thursday, December 9, 1999
7:30 p.m.

At the George Washington University
Funger Hall
Room 103
2201 G Street, NW
Washington, DC

Andrew Gray is a member of the Wagner Society of Washington, DC and is the
translator of Wagner's autobiography - "Mein Leben." Gray contends that
Wagner's views on the nature of music remain largely ignored and unexplored
by our musical culture. In his provocative talk, he will also attempt to
defend Wagner's character against what he believes are "the gross and
continuing distortions and sheer nonsense that prevail in public forums."
Says Andrew Gray, "I tend to believe that almost everything said in public
about Wagner is wrong one way or the other and the same is true about
everything said in print."

This program is free to Members of the Wagner Society and the Public.
