The dynamics in Gardiner's recording are why I sold my copy.  Too bad,
otherwise it was quite nice.

My all around favorite would be Muti's Philharmonia recording despite the
fact that some of the singing sounds uneven to me.  I also like Reiner's
once you give in and accept that his tempos are quite slow.

I have heard good things about Giulini and Toscanini but Giulini appears to
be currently OOP(thank you EMI).

Other members may be able to add to this list.  This is one of those pieces
that seems to have no shortage of good recordings to choose from.
