No one has yet mentioned the Beaux Arts Trio. Maybe they have the
reputation of being the Neville Marriner-out-in-his-field of the piano
trio literature, but I have listened to their recording of the Archduke
and I can't find a flaw. I also have the Cortot-Thibaud-Casals trio, and
an old LP of Istomin-Stern-Casals that I wish would come out on CD. Its
tempi are a little slower than most other versions, but it's tasty.
