we have the same problem here in Lebanon, after fluvalinate, we used bayer's bayvarol strip (another pyrethroid)and then some amitraz strips,...
mineral oils seem to be a viable alternative, they were used in avignon (south of france) and i tried them here in lebanon, there is a mite drop. i can't quantify it. it is worth a try.
(i sprayed 10 cc paraffin oil/ hive)
