Advance notice: the June 1995 issue includes a discussion of postpartum
hemorrhage and subsequent breastfeeding problems. Look for it. In this
case, we are talking MAJOR bleed, not a usual loss or "greater than normal"
one.
I also have observed that mothers with a severe bleed do not make milk, or
have a serious delay in same, and volume is simply not there. If they stick
with it with lots of stimulation (by good pump and baby), things can be
resolved, but not always.
We need MORE studies of this issue. (hint hint)
