In my previous posting, I questioned the point of having public television
if it did not offer "unique" programming.

I'm not aware of any type of programming on PBS which is not available on
various cable and satellite tv networks. At a minimum, there's the Arts &
Entertainment Network, The History Channel, The Discovery Channel, The
Education Network, Home & Garden Network, Court TV, 24 hour news networks,
2 Congressional channels, and The Animal Planet Network. So, I notice
duplication.

This leads to the issue of a public source providing a service to
the American people which is covered by private sources. Whatever the
appropriate decision might be, the current duplication should be considered
in the equation.
