First of all, regarding your list. Most of those are great films, but
not Annie Hall. Annie Hall I found to be boring and unnerving (like most
of Woody Allen's stuff). I also felt that it STOLE the Oscar from Star
Wars. Star Wars wasn't a great film in the Citizen Kane or 12 Angry Men
genre, but it is a great film because of its stature as a cultural icon and
because of its contributions to moviemaking in general. And, because of
the music. I cannot believe that you consider the music of Star Wars to
be pitiful. That is totally without merit. At Berkeley in Boston where
people who score films go to school, John Williams is required reading.
(btw, I feel Star Wars is a better movie than everything on your list with
the possible exception of 12 Angry Men).
