In 1993, Titanic released a disc of di Bonaventura performing D. Scarlatti
sonatas on piano. I thought it was very good, but I did prefer an EMI
cd from Zacharias(sp?), also on piano. I'm glad Richard posted about di
Bonaventura. I haven't listened to Scarlatti for a long time, so I'll make
sure to play both recordings.
It's coming back to me. The reason I liked Zacharias so much at that time
was that he was a master at smoothing out Scarlatti's music. Yes,
sometimes it did sound like Scarlatti in a coma, but I think that Zacharias
had a vision and made good on it.
