Haven't heard those works, but I have heard some very charming choral
pieces and chamber music, especially a "Prelude, Marine, and Chansons"
for flute, violin, viola, cello, and harp - all of which remind me more
of Debussy than Saint-Saens.  Perhaps it's that winning French use of the
harp.
