No such thing as a "best" performance of any piece of music, let alone
something as open-ended as a Shostakovich symphony.  It's probably better
to avoid shockingly inaccurate performances though, whether or not the
sound quality is second to none.  There's hardly any point listening to a
beautifully mastered recording of a composition if the performance isn't
up to much!
