Felix Debrueck asks for recommendations for recording of the Bartok
Quartets.

I first 'learned' the quartets with the first 'complete' recorded by the
Juilliard Quartet, and came to love them (with some slight reservations
about the First).

But then came the Emersons.  What loving performances these are.  And
lyrical where others find knots.

Hope this helps.  And *do* persist with them.  They *do* reveal their
charms over time.
