SSchwarz and I usually don't disagree, BUT - in regards to Zino
Francescatti's interpretation of the Beethoven concerto with Walter, I
have a strong admiration and love of his interpretation. I find that ZF
eschews a deeply introspective and spiritual interpretation, avoiding the
more typical virtuosic, stunning-technique orientation of many violinists.
On the other hand, like Steve I also greatly admire Heifetz - and one not
mentioned yet: Mutter/Karajan.
