I was reading Johansson & Johansen today and here is what they say:
"Until the 1880's the only method for procuring queen cells was either to
stimulate swarming conditions in the colony or to render it queenless.
The cells produced by these methods (3-12 or more) are entirely
satisfactory..."
They go on to say that the position of the cells is often inconvenient,
and that the frames can be damaged cutting them out, etc. but never imply
that anything whatsoever is wrong with emergency cells.
