Kempe has been described as having an uncommon lyrical grace.  His
Meistersinger is arguably one of the best, if not the best, currently
on disc.  (It's the one I turn to again and again for a certain purity
and understanding of the work as a whole.) And Kempe had an affinity for
Richard Strauss.  His Don Quixote, if not the best, deserves consideration
if you are seeking an alternative to some of the others.  You might also
check out his Bartered Bride, Mozart Symphony #34 and Haydn #104.
