And then there is the infamous "Yoni Stones" of Southern California. About 20
years ago, someone proposed large natural concretions in batholithic granite
resembled female vaginas..and published the idea. For the past 20 years,
people have come to the San Diego Museum of Man Rock Art Symposium and shown
slides of these natural phenomenon and presented wild theories of fertility
rock art. Some claim the things were carved, painted, and revered. Dunno, but
to me they are just dark spots in light gray boulders. Depends on your state
of mind, I guess.
