In answer to whosever query it was, I'm afraid I have to relate that the
proposed London premiere of the Simpson Eleventh Symphony earlier this
month didn't happen. It was to be part of a concert series promoted by
the UK Sibelius Society, who didn't raise enough funds to realise their
orchestral ambitions, and so the series was transformed into a chamber,
song and piano series. Indeed, it end with a piano recital at St John's,
Smith Square, this Sunday evening (31 October) -- Ritva Sjostedt performing
Sibelius, Arnold, Chopin and Rautio. The box office, for anyone within
striking distance, is on 0171 222 1061.
