It's not because Harnoncourt is non-HIP, he was one of the founders of the
movement, in the early 60s.  I have recordings from those days.  One of the
more amazing recordings is the one of Purcell Fantasias, composed when he
was 21.  Some sound like modern music.  Played with more warmth than I've
heard on later recordings by some groups.

This was on Vanguard when it came out on CD in '95 and was for awhile on
Musical Heritage as an LP.
