I'd add that the Zemlinsky Lyric Symphony coupled with Berg is superlative,
as is Michael Gielen's Carter disc. The provocative and often infuriating
Zinman Beethoven Symphony cycle is going in various US shops at prices
around $20-25, and there's esoteric repertoire, such as Schnabel [yes,
the pianist] and Wolpe which isn't easily found elsewhere.
