LECTURER
DEPARTMENT OF ARCHAEOLOGY
We invite applications for this post from suitably qualified people
with a postgraduate degree, preferably a PhD in African Archaeology or
a related field, for appointment as soon as possible. We would
welcome applications from South Africans who are black, are women or
have a disability.
As the successful applicant for this post, you will be capable of
teaching later prehistory and the historical archaeology of Southern
Africa, and coordinating and teaching undergraduate courses dealing
with interactions between hunters, herders, farmers and colonists.
You will also be expected to organise and run a field school to train
undergraduate students in excavation and survey techniques, to teach
at the Honours level and to undertake the supervision of graduate
students.
The remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between
R129 226 - R167 268 a year, the salary component being R7 382 - R9 228
