I know your more interested in depots etc. but you may be interested in an
article published in Ohio Valley Historical Archaeology vol. 12 1997.  Charles
Hockensmith wrote an article about the 1830s Lexington and Ohio Railroad.  It
was the first railroad in Kentucky and one of the first in the country.  The
interesting thing about the tracks is that the rails sat on limestone sills.
