I have a very well-filled Erato CD of American piano music played by,
of all people, Michel Legrand. It starts with a prelude by Nancarrow and
ends with a bacchanale by Cage. In between are most of the usual suspects,
including Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag and, not entirely unexpectedly, The
Entertainer. I love Legrand's way with these two warhorses and would be
happy to hear his views on other Joplin pieces. The best track is
Gottschalk's Manchega, on which Legrand goes for broke - great stuff!
