Christopher Webber wrote about Gramophone's monthly "Editor Choices":

Reading individual reviews in Gramophone or other magazines is much MORe
insightful than perusing an "Editor's Choice" column.  Often, the discs
assigned as a top choice by the editor do not receive stellar indiviudal
reviews.  That's a primary reason why I consider the Penguin Guide
insufficient as a guide to buying recordings; it does not provide any
insights.  You have to take it on faith or not at all.
