Nicholas Maw wrote, and Simon Rattle recorded, a mammoth (2 cd) orchestral
piece called "Odyssey". Its I suppose, neoromantic, but the label does not
say much of interest. It is rich, warm, complex music, and I find - one of
the advantages of home listening- that I can listen in installments and it
makes sense that way.

I recall that Rattle was so committed to it, that he pushed very hard
on his usual recording company (EMI?) to record it as a condition for
a continued relationship.
