I just found out about:
"The Century List: 100 Reasons to Play This Century's Music" compiled
by Frank J Oteri
at http://www.newmusicbox.org/archive/century/
It's apparently aimed at people who program classical music stations.
Gives about a paragraph description of 80 works "under 20 minutes", evenly
divided between American and "the rest of the World", and another 20 which
are longer than 20 minutes "but are worth fitting in". All with CD
(occasionally LP) info, including timings to the second.
My "CDs to buy" list has just expanded considerably.
