Robert A. Fradkin, author of "The Well-Tempered Announcer -- A
Pronunciation Guide to Classical Music" (Indiana University Press, 1996),
goes with "roh-day-oh" and notes that "Copland -- himself a lifelong city
slicker -- apparently preferred the version given here." Mr. Fradkin
doesn't tell us how he learned of Copland's preference...
