Why not ordinary fat patties? Once in Autumn (the Fall) and once during
preparation for pollination. They are simple to make up and effective. We
mix up 25 kg vege-fat to 175kg sugar and add 25kg jam (discard
ex-factory) to bind. No waxpaper needed, the bees take it and the fat
spreads slowly and continuously. On top of the t-mite reduction, the
sugar is used by the bees to feed on = less stress again.
We have noticed the paper-towel hygene test also relates to patties: If
not taken within a week ... write a cross on the front. They won't make
it six months!
