Dan, Back in graduate school I had a year to work with collections at the San
Diego Museum of Man. The late Emma Lou Davis showed me a Clovis point that
she thought was made from plate glass, but a few years later the now decased
Don Crabtree examined it and demonstrated it to be heat-treated crystal. Now
that is undoubtedly the best point I have ever seen. Unfortunately, it was
broken in half when found. Davy (her nick name) later felt it was brought in
by later people, such as the Kumeyaay as an attachment to their dance wands.
Just an incredible piece.
