MG,
The Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington Kentucky offers two eight-day field
schools in historical archaeology for 11-16 year old students; one in June and
one in July. Please contact me off list and I can get you more information.
Although I don't usually teach the field sessions anymore I direct the program
and teach the lab part. This year they will be learning some surveying skills
while looking for a Civil War fortification, and continuing work at a 19th
century home site in northern Kentucky.
Also, I believe Sunwatch Village in Dayton Ohio offers some family programs in
the summer. It is a recreated 12-13th century Native American village. They
should have a website, or try through the Dayton Museum of Natural History.
Also check with the Ohio Historical Society (Columbus, Ohio) and the Kentucky
Archaeology Survey (at Univ. of Ky in Lexington).
