*Mer a boire*. I heard some of the Alexander's effort and didn't like it
much to be frank. Some favourites:
- Busch quartet
- Budapest quartet (thirties, avoid there second traversl from the fifties)
- Smetana (1967)
- Guarneri (1967)
- Juilliard (early sixties, I think)
- Amadeus (ditto)
- Hungarians (both sets)
Etc.etc. Not: Alban Berg Qt., Italians a.o.
HIP-groups ensembles not recorded much Beethoven yet, but op.18 (5,6) by
the Mosaiques is so good that I can hardly wait for them to do more B.
Recently I heard an *incredible* op.74 radio broadcast from a live concert
by the *Zehetmair Qt.*, a group led by Thomas Zehetmair, who is at least as
good a chamber player as a soloist. Does anybody know of any recordings by
this ensemble?
