Richard Pennycuick, Re: Grainger & Grieg:

Mmm. There are several Grainger plays Grieg Pno Con on CD.

2 are versions for solo piano [arranged by Grainger] recorded on piano
rolls apparently around 1929 [Biddulph Piano Series 41; Klavier 11075].
Then there are a couple of recordings of the Stokowski/Hollywood Bowl
Performance on July 15, 1945 [Music & Arts 1002; Archiv Documents
[dist:JEM] 2003]. One more version: w. Per Drier, Aarhus Municipal
Orch, ca 1957 [Vanguard Classics 8205].

I can't find anything on the Sydney Sym LP reissued on CD. With a little
time I can go back & check the old LP catalogs if anyone is interested
in the label/pno roll company. (We have all them Schwanns back to
1948/49!!!!! 50 yrs old this year dontcha know!!)

Richard Pennycuick again:

>There's so much of Grieg's piano music and Naxos seems bent on recording
>it all. Where else would be a good place to jump in?

Lyric Pieces (10 sets) for Piano. I found them a great way to "learn
Grieg" beyond Peer Gynt and the other pops. I think I have a Gieseking
coupled with Mendelssohn Lieder ohne Worte on EMI, not complete but a good
overview. And there are a -ton- of them.
