Perhaps they have re-mixed these performances in the interim, but I did
not hear quite the same clarity and definition in the orchestral sonorities.
Many of the same points regarding the interpretation do apply, and there is
some more sinewy articulation in the Concertgebouw playing which has its
separate appeal, but I really enjoy the winds from the BSO and the balance
and definition in the full textures. This is the sort of point I tend to
place near the end of evaluating an interpretation, but I'm certainly happy
to get it in a performance so otherwise appealing as well.
