I also have no interest in hearing this phenomenal music on a piano.
However, in Liszt's day there were no recordings available so piano
transcriptions gave audiences some access to the music.  For Liszt, it
also provided an opportunity to display his ability.  Something he seemed
to enjoy.

Munch seemed to feel Berlioz bass lines were 'weak'.
