Maestro Claudio Abbado has announced that he is leaving the podium of
the BPO in 2002.  Who is going to be the next conductor of the Berliner
Philharmoniker? Does anyone wants to bet? Some favourites:  (a) Sir Simon
Rattle; (b) Daniel Barenboim; (c) Mariss Jansons; (d) Lorin Maazel; (e)
Zubin Mehta and (e) Riccardo Muti.
