I've got Pires' #1 on DG via my friend in Tokyo a few month ago. For me it
sounds so slow as I expected (especially in the 3rd movement). Of course,
she produces very beutiful tone as usual. Just it does not go with my
taste (it sounds almost self-indulgent and lacking crispness/youthfulness),
although I liked her #2.
Recently I got Argerich's Chopin Concerto with Dutoit on EMI via my friend
since I could not wait. I found that both concertos are very much the same
as previous recordings by Argerich on DG. In that sense, I'm a little bit
disappointed.
I would like to try Ax in the future.
