FLUTIST LAUREL ANN MAURER TO PRESENT LIVE INTERNET RECITAL FROM WASHINGTON
DC's KENNEDY CENTER
Program Features Works by Utah Composers
On Wednesday, August 11 at 8 PM EST, flutist Laurel Ann Maurer will present
a live Internet recital from The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The
concert can be seen at www.kennedy-center.org. Click on the Millennium

Assisted by pianist/composer Jeff Manookian, Ms. Maurer will present
works by composers from Utah, including William Wallace's Toccata in Ten,
Jeffrey Price's Night Dance, Ricklin Nobis's julia goes to sleep, Phillip
Kent Birnstein's Half Moon at Checkerboard Mesa and Jeff Manookian's Sonata
for flute and piano. Ms. Maurer is a resident of Utah.
Laurel Ann Maurer is Principal Flute of the Salt Lake Symphony and
has appeared with orchestras and in recital across the U.S. She has
commissioned works from such major American composers as Augusta Read
Thomas, Meyer Kupferman and Jennifer Higdon. Her latest recording, Mr.
Kupferman's Concerto Brevis for flute and orchestra, has been released on
the Soundspells label in a performance with the Orchestre Philharmonique
de Monte-Carlo. She has also recorded for Albany, CRI and 4Tay.
