Boston Musica Viva performed Maw's Ghost Dances about 2 weeks ago here
at Tanglewood--I would say the piece was rather interesting if a bit
eclectic--it was for standard Pierrot Lunaire ensemble plus percussion and
the instrumentalists played extras too ---African finger piano, crotales,
slide whistle, etc.

The piece was full of energy and originality without being alienating.

Odyssey is another great piece of his almost 100 minutes of orchestral
music---somewhat in the 'neo-romantic' strain, but more searching than
most pieces that fit that classification tend to be.
