Bob Yoon nominates, for a list of the Worst Conductors Ever to Conduct
One of the World's Best Orchestras:
>Arthur Rodzinski
Why Rodzinski? I can understand, though not really endorse, the other
candidates but, as someone who imprinted on some of Rodzinski's 78 rpm
recordings as a child, I am puzzled by this one. I only own one of his
recordings (Bizet's symphony) but that is outstanding, especially the slow
movement--helped by Harold Gomberg's oboe playing, to be sure, but Gomberg
also plays in Bernstein's recorded performance and I think Rodzinski's is
better.
