Actually I always thought the "missa in tempore belli" ("Paukenmesse") to
be vastly superior to this one. The Timpani mass intrigued me! Imagine
the mass built up with a set of puzzlebricks 1,2,3,4,5,6, and these could
have followed each other in the series 6,5,4,3,2,1, or 2,5,1,4,6,3, or,
6,2,4,3,1,5 and it would musically sound right, and without stops and
starting ups in the music. And the only reason to have the bricks laid
in this order is the text.
Is this great composition technique?
is the same to be found in the other pieces? Recommendations?
