'Les Nuits d'Ete forms a tender foil to the more extoverted and often
hysterical Berlioz that we know from such works as 'Symphonie Fantastique,
'Le Corsaire, 'Benvenuto Cellini, and 'Damnation de Faust. My original
admiration for Berlioz was for his brilliantly orchestrated
hysteria--'Nuits d'Ete helps put a little balance into the picture.
