Just went to Sym of a 1000 with Sino[poli and the Royal Phil.
Spectacular. Sinopoli had a wonderful control over the forces and a real
flair for dramatic conducting. He was capable of pulling the tempo around
considerably, even with the masses of people to pull. And the speed of the
1st part was vigorous to say the least. He managed some ecstatic crescendi
and climaxes. Great soloists. The tenor really sent me into 7th Heaven
with the Blicket Auf thing. Only one thing I disliked - the beginning of
the second half. It was a bit too fast for my liking. I don't think he
really captured the ethereal mood of the introduction.

Amazing that they are putting on another at the Festival Hall. I won't be
going to that one. Don't know if it is capable of delivering the same
punch.

Did anyone else go to it? Agree/disagree with my comments?
