Border's is usually careful not to sell a new recording before the official
release date. Universal Music is very strict about sales before the release
date. I say usually because I picked up the only copy of the new Mahler Ninth
by the Cleveland Orchestra at Borders a day before the actual release date.

Anyway, that could be a justifiable reason why the sales clerk hovered over
you.
