Danielle Woerner wants information information on recordings of Nielsen's
art songs.

It makes the most sense to start with either the collection on Pearl
9140 or Danachord 460. Both represent the highest development of his art.
In addition--and what an addition--they are sung by Aksel Schiotz, whose
simple interpretation shows how great both the songs and his voice are.
Given the two ingredients, it would an absolute impossibility not to
cherish these CDs.

Throughout my life these songs have brought me as much pleasure as
Nielsen's symphonies, not because the symphonies are overrated. That
would be impossible. But the songs have remained in the shadow of these
overwhelming symphonies. You will be so pleasantly surprised to discover
how complex a musical character Nielsen had. These songs are so melodic,
charming and gentle.
