Yep, the "big picture" should be constantly on our minds. I suppose
archaeologists will have to follow the route of many museums in broadening
their "appeal" or the access to their data. I am a lab flunky who accesses
and re-processes the archaeological collections for Parks Canada in
Winnipeg, Manitoba. Essentially, I do the archaeology of .. well..
archaeology. Until recently It was depressing that only a handful of
archaeologists would ever see this stuff. This will hopefully change as
we develop reference collections directed at park staff. Eventually we can
work on edu-kits, displays and maybe some on-line/CD-ROM stuff.
Yes, yes this is meandering off the thread but it is something to
consider. Maybe we could use a few more "pop" archaeologists.
