The other day I came across the following dedication in a library copy of
Rimsky-Korsakov's songs op. 50, written in Russian in black ink:
To the talented, wonderful artist
Anna Samoylovna Eltur
in good memory
N. Rimskaya-Korsakova
21 May 1913.
I consulted several handbooks, but could not find the name of this artist.
Another copy on the same shelf was stamped in (Latin characters):
Anna El-Tour
Odessa
Preobrajenskaja 45
Can anyone supply information on this singer(?)?
By the way, would this book, as it contains a written inscription by the
composer's widow, be of any value as a collector's item?
Willem Vijvers, the Netherlands
