Elgar's the Kingdom, played by Andrew Davis and the BBCSO.  Would like
opinions on performance please, if anyone else was there.  My own thoughts:
chorus and orchestra excellently conducted by AD.  It seemed very similar
in style to the Boult recording I have.  Soloists: Soprano excellent (very
good Sun Goeth Down).  Contralto good (very nice sound).  Tenor was a
bit too tentative for my liking - seemed to be singing to himself a bit.
Bass performed well but was a bit grainy when singing loud.  They were:
Hillevi Martinpelto, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Timothy Robinson and Anthony
Michaels-Moore.  I had heard of none of them, though I recognised the
Soprano. Did she sing at the Mahler 8 that was done not too long ago at
the RAH? Altogether though, a good performance, but I think I would take
Boult's over a recording of that one.
