Professor James Webster says there should be no keyboard for any symphony
before the London ones.  (He is at odds with HCR-L in this repect).
Regarding the London sysmphonies he says that there are two versions one
for performance in London utilising keyboards and one for continent without
keyboards.

What you say above makes sense though.
