Although Kraus' discography is not extensive, a few labels have devoted
discs to his music. Musica Sveciae has the lead with a disc of his
string quartets, Funeral music for Gustav(an oratorio), an opera titled
"Prosperin", and a sampler disc; I believe that even more Kraus has been
recorded on this label. Vanguard has released Kraus' Funeral music as
well.

Orfeo has recorded his violin concerto and two symphonies on one disc.
Capriccio released a disc of Kraus symphonies. Lastly, Virgin released a
few years ago the opera titled "Soliman II." And there could well be more.

I have not listened to all the above recordings, because my enjoyment of
Kraus has been limited. I have "Soliman II", the symphonies on Capriccio,
and the string quartets and "Prosperin" on Musica Sveciae. Basically, I
just don't find much memorable music in Kraus' works.

As for symphony comparisons, the Capriccio disc is very well played, and it
wouldn't surprise me if it was superior to the Naxos recordings.
