James Reminded us of the Dukes 100th birthday.  This is a reminder that
WGBH Boston produced a TV special program in their "Basic Black" series
which ran in Boston on Thursday evening 4/29.  Other PBS stations might be
carrying it later or as a repeat.  Highly recommended as music programing,
Rashid Silvera portrays Ellington in brief dramatic snippets between
musical segments which reveal personal details of the composers life
and reflections on his creative output.  Music was competently and
inspirationally supplied by the New Life Jazz Orchestra directed by
Kendrick Oliver.
