Janos Gereben asked:

>Would anyone know the soprano for the Brahms Requiem in Chicago, with
>Barenboim and Quasthoff?

The soprano was Dorothea Rauchmann (sp?), who had some trouble being heard
over the orchestra. The same cast repeated the Requiem in Berlin several
weeks ago, to tremendous acclaim. This time the soprano also performed
exceptionally well. [All this from my sister-in-law - a big volunteer
worker for the CSO.]

Barenboim has become a real favorite in Berlin - a prime contender for the
successor position with the BPO, although he is greatly admired in Chicago
and might not leave.

(BTW, thanks to Janos for his San Francisco/northern California news.)
